Volume 8, Issue 1 & Issue 2 — 2026
The Journal of Social Science and Humanities (JSSH), published by the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages (SSHL), Bangladesh Open University, invites original research articles and scholarly contributions for Volume 8, Issues 1 and 2 (2026).
Journal Scope
JSSH welcomes high-quality scholarly contributions in Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Islamic Studies, Geography and Environment, Education, Linguistics, History, Philosophy, Anthropology, Development Studies, Gender Studies, and related interdisciplinary fields of the social sciences and humanities.
Manuscripts submitted after the deadline may not be considered for Volume 8, 2026.
Language of Submission
JSSH primarily accepts manuscripts written in English. Manuscripts written in Bangla are discouraged except for scholarly contributions specifically related to Bangla Language and Literature or where the use of Bangla is academically essential to the subject of the study.
Submission Method
For Volume 8, manuscripts will be accepted exclusively through the journal's online Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. No hard-copy or email submissions will be accepted.
Key Submission Requirements
Authors are requested to ensure that manuscripts:
- Are original and unpublished and are not under consideration by another journal.
- Contain approximately 3,000–5,000 words, excluding references.
- Follow APA 7th edition citation and referencing style.
- Have a similarity index of normally 20% or below, subject to editorial assessment.
- Comply with the journal's requirements regarding AI-assisted tools and disclosure. AI Detection Score must be below 25%.
- Are prepared appropriately for the journal's blind peer-review process.
- Meet applicable research ethics, authorship, and publication-ethics requirements.
Editorial and Peer-Review Process
All submitted manuscripts will undergo initial editorial screening to assess their relevance, originality, academic quality, ethical compliance, and conformity with the journal's requirements. Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening will normally be considered for blind peer review.
The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editorial Board and will take into consideration the reviewers' recommendations and the overall scholarly quality of the manuscript.

Authors are encouraged to complete their submissions well before the deadline to avoid technical difficulties associated with last-minute OJS submissions.
Only manuscripts submitted through the official JSSH OJS platform within the specified submission period will normally be considered for Volume 8, 2026.
